Artwork can express a wide variety of emotions through the brushstrokes of one painter.
Some artists show their passion through heavy colors and abstract painting while others use a darker color scheme with realism. I created my art to celebrate the differing types of art throughout the decades. The evolution of art is a great study that mimics the times of momentous history. In contrast, other pieces of work tend to have a focus on a simple still life or a landscape that stretches into the creative world of the artist’s mind.
My concentration focuses on the entertainment aspect of each decade. There are many dramatic pieces that depict the hard times, but I decided to purposefully explore the positive parts of each year. Each art piece has a clear idea that any person can understand. It is then up to the viewer to try and find a deeper meaning within my artwork. Art is so successful because there can be ambiguity. I could describe the more complex aspects of my work, but I am choosing to leave it to the audience to discover their love for art in their unique way.
The mediums that were used were all very distinct. I wanted to challenge myself to try and improve the art techniques that I have learned over the years. My art portfolio includes pieces created with charcoal, acrylic paint, and oil paint. Though my mediums were limited, I was able to achieve many different styles of art. Semi-realism especially shows throughout each
art piece. The abstract work was fairly new to me, but I hope to inspire viewers to find their own interpretation of the pieces that only involve a mixture of colors and geometric shapes. Art holds
an important place in my life, and the best way for me to share my love for art is by creating it.
